Overall Participant Outcome:
To provide an opportunity for teachers to engage in facilitated discussions on the Primary Language Curriculum and to participate in a professional learning community of teachers, where ideas and expertise are shared, and participants have the opportunity to collaborate and support each other to improve teaching and learning in relation to the Primary Language Curriculum.
Session 1: Reading October 6th 7p.m.-8p.m.
Reflect on the teaching of reading in both English and Gaeilge in relation to the Primary Language Curriculum and to consider effective strategies ad approaches that support children to develop as readers.
Explore the potential of a variety of texts in relation to the Learning Outcomes of the Primary Language Curriculum.
Session 2: Oral language November 10th 7p.m.-8.30p.m.
Reflect on current practice in relation to Oral Language.
Explore ways in which we can explicitly support children in developing specific Oral Language skills and concepts.
Session 3: Writing December 1st 7p.m.-8.30p.m.
Reflect on the teaching and learning of Writing in both English and Gaeilge in relation to the Primary Language Curriculum
Explore ways in which we can explicitly support children in developing specific writing skills and concepts.
